Cold Weather Returns to J&K, Residents Brace for Chilly Nights

Kashmir Valley experienced a return to cold nighttime temperatures on Thursday, with all weather stations registering sub-zero readings. The Srinagar Meteorological Centre predicts mostly dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir for the next two days.

Srinagar’s minimum temperature was -2.4°C, 2.6°C below the seasonal average. Despite the cold nights, sunny days have created summer-like conditions. Daytime temperatures have increased by 3-4°C in many areas over the last 24 hours, while nighttime temperatures have fallen by 1-2°C in some areas.

Other locations also saw freezing temperatures: Gulmarg recorded -7.5°C, Pahalgam -3.6°C, and Sonamarg was the coldest at -8.8°C. No significant weather changes are expected until February 18th, according to the Meteorological Centre.
