Ganderbal – Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today voiced his strong hope for an immediate cessation of hostilities between Israel and Iran, advocating for a resolution through dialogue.
Speaking to reporters in his Ganderbal assembly constituency, Abdullah expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict. “We can only hope and pray that the war stops. The situation is bad. This should not have happened,” he stated.
Abdullah questioned the rationale behind Israel’s attack, especially in light of recent U.S. intelligence assessments. “A few days ago, the US intelligence in-charge said before the Senate and Congress that Iran is not closer to getting a nuclear weapon. So, if America felt that a few days ago, then why did Israel attack Iran?” he pondered. He suggested political motives were at play, adding, “It is obvious that there is some politics behind it but we hope that this cycle stops sooner and the issues are resolved through dialogue.”
